10 Discover Durant 2018 60711595 Founded in 1909, Southeastern Oklaho- ma State University serves 4,000 students throughout Oklahoma and north Texas. While the main campus is located in Durant, the University also offers programs at the McCurtain County branch campus in Idabel; the University Center of Southern Okla- homa, Ardmore; Eastern Oklahoma State College, McAlester; Tinker Air Force Base and Rose State College, Midwest City; and Grayson College, Denison and Van Alstyne, Texas. Durant, home of the main campus, is located near Lake Texoma, 150 miles south of Oklahoma City and 90 miles north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroxplex. Sean Burrage has served as president of Southeastern since July 1, 2014. Southeastern is one of six institutions governed by the Regional University Sys- tem of Oklahoma and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. In addition, the University holds a number of specialty accreditations, including The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (John Massey School of Busi- ness) and The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. The University, which offers 38 bachelor’s degree programs and 13 master’s degree programs, is nationally known for such fields of study as Aviation, Elementary Education, and Occupational Safety and Health. Over the past year, Southeastern has expanded its online program offerings to provide more flexibility and options for stu- dents.
